Hunters

Hunters have been in history since the dawn of times, be that hunting for game or sport, but a Hunter in these dark times is not tracking Wolves or Bears, his pray is of a more demonic source. Hunters specialize in slaying kindred, wraiths, Garou and all supernatural beings, they are the new order of Inquisitors but they are not organized as an institution. There are many type of hunters, The Zealot, The Avenger, The Redeemer. But all have one thing in common they hunt and destroy the darkness of the night.
A Hunters main power is their humanity allowing them to gain strength from a source thought gone Faith.
The Faith of a hunter can manifest in a prayer before striking his foe and causing serious injury on the damned, a Hunter can project his spiritual power to heal wounds more rapidly and to exorcise demons, yet Faith is fragile and can abandon a person when all hope seems lost Faith can proved ones greatest power or weakness, for when dealing with the undead and seeing first hand the aberrations that go against nature and the principles of God the Faith of a man can be shaken being reduced to nothingness.

The Hunters are varied indeed, and can be from the dark vigilante to the homeless bum in the corner, The fate of a hunter almost always ends not in battle but in their sleep, while they sleep they are defenseless and Ghouls can move in broad daylight and there are other creatures that roam the night that are not affected by the light of day as a Vampire.

  3. @The Angry Lurker Hunters come in all shapes and sizes Vampire Hunter D is a Damphir like Alucard from the castlevania series, Angel is a Vampire that hunts other vampires because of a curse that befell him by gypsies, In the world of Darkness there are no known Kindred that hunt other kindred since the tools a hunter uses is Faith and the Faith one has in an object like Holy cross, Star of David or swastika (The Swastika is a holy emblem of the hindu that Germans adopted for their banner). So Kindred can pick up crosses and other holy relics but an icon means nothing if the wielder has no faith.

  7. @Jay.CA well yes, Hunters have powers because of their faith, if a Faithless person holds up a cross to a kindred or Wraith it would do nothing, the vampire or demon would ripe his head off and stick the cross where there head used to be, but with the confidence of your Deity on your side, no demon can face you because God´s got your back so to speak, The Cross from a person with Faith would repel or burn Kindred and wraiths alike.

  8. Hunters are dangerous because they've got so much less to lose than vampires. Sure they've got their humanity still, but they don't have the fact that if they're careful, they can exist for eternity holding them back from rashness.

  9. If a Hunter were to take the Shroud of Turin™ and fold it like a gym towel and "rat tail" a Kindred with it, what would that do?

  12. Hunters in my family are NOTHING like this.

They smell terrible, chew tobacco and ride harleys...

  14. I just don't see hunters travelling in packs. Their personalities are more of a lone wolf type (don't quote me on that - personal observation)

  15. @Totenkreuz yeah the art cover for devil may cry was a rip off off Hunters The reckoning that same image. sad indeed

@killer Salmon yep they are loners because like in Constantine When you see the undead they see you and the human psyche cracks, they become loners and develop anti social behaviors pretty deep stuff

  22. Hunters have it tough all right, but without them we'd be overrun by ghouls and vampires.

Nice blog by the way. I wasn't sure at first but the more I learn about vampire lore from you the more I get into it.
